Businesses that will cease to exist
April 22, 2014 typesofaid.com Staff
With technological advances, there are five businesses that are expected to disappear in approximately one year. This will provide an opening for entrepreneurs to fill the gap with improved products and services.
1) Retail businesses like J.C. Penney will go under
No longer will people physically show up at a brick and mortar store to try on clothes. People are buying their clothes on line and trying them on in the privacy of their own homes. If the clothes do not fit, they simply return them and the correct size is sent.
2) Specific brands of E-readers will be obsolete
Reading on a device will continue, but specific brand name devices will likely vanish. Books can now be downloaded to iPhones, tablets, iPads and smart phone in general. This negates the need for a device dedicated solely to reading books.
3) Movie industry
It may take a while, but the Hollywood Movie Industry is destined to vanishing. Theaters, with their over-priced snacks and less than compelling movies, are no longer filling their seats for ordinary movies. Also, with the advancement of computer generated imagery (CGI), it will not be long before you will not be able to tell the difference between a real-live Hollywood actor and a CGI fabricated one. Virtual Reality (VR) headsets will allow people to experience the action in a movie, not just sit in a seat and watch.
4) DVD and Blu-Ray will go the way of LPs and CDs
No need for DVDs or Blu-Ray discs. As technology continues to advance by leaps and bounds, what seems like cutting edge one day is obsolete the next. Google-glass type inventions are taking over. Live streaming is the norm. Soon, technology as we now know it will be replaced by even greater technological advances.
5) Key makers will be out of business
Technology has even changed the way we view keys. Yes, keys that open your front door or start your car. Already, car keys for newer model cars are obsolete as drivers click on their key pad to unlock or lock their car doors. The same key pad starts the car. Homes are being equipped with safety devices that are more secure in preventing unauthorized entry than are conventional keys. Keys can be duplicated or stolen as well as lost. Soon, we may be opening our homes and cars according to our fingerprints or based on our own personal DNA.
